Law Offices of Brian S. Weinberger
Q & A

What should you do when you are arrested?

You have the right to remain silent. The police are responsible for the entire investigation. You may hurt your case by giving a statement on your own. The first thing you should do is request to speak to an attorney and call a criminal defense attorney right away. Upon receipt of a City Attorney Hearing, bring your attorney with you. By hiring an attorney early on, you will be benefited in many ways. For misdemeanor cases, an attorney will appear for you.  In case of a DUI, please contact the DMV for a hearing within ten (10) days.

What should you do in case of an auto accident or other serious accident?

While waiting for the police to arrive, you should attempt to obtain the personal information of the other party including the vehicle information and insurance information. It is advisable to take pictures of the other party and any vehicle damage with your cell phone or other camera. Please contact an attorney, who will then contact the insurance companies, then fill out any DMV paperwork and arrange for a medical doctor to treat you in case of any injuries. The attorney will do their best to obtain the maximum compensation for pain and suffering.
